Constantin Antonovici – Discipolul lui Brâncuși în Colecțiile Muzeului Național al Bucovinei

Muzeul Național al Bucovinei organizează, în perioada 6 iulie – 4 septembrie 2022, expoziția de sculptură „Constantin Antonovici – Discipolul lui Brâncuși în Colecțiile Muzeului Național al Bucovinei”.

Expoziția se desfășoară în Sala Multimedia de la etajul I al Muzeului de Istorie din Suceava și va fi vernisată în data de 6 iulie, la ora 13, de către criticul de artă Vladimir Bulat. Atât la vernisaj, cât și pe perioada de expunere, până la data de 4 septembrie, intrarea este liberă.

Născut la 18 februarie 1911, în satul Cârligi, comuna Ștefan cel Mare, Județul Neamț, sculptorul Constantin Antonovici va urma între 1934 și 1939 Academia de Artă din Iași, unde va avea ca profesori pe Ion Mateescu și Nicolae Tonitza. În anul 1940 va lucra șase luni în atelierul din Zagreb al sculptorului Ivan Meštović, în 1942 este admis la Academia de Arte Frumoase din Viena, unde va lucra cu sculptorul german Fritz Behn, căruia îi va fi și asistent la catedră. Odată cu sfârșitul războiului, reușește să se stabilească la Paris, unde va locui în perioada 1947 – 1951 în atelierul sculptorului român Constantin Brâncuși, perioadă determinantă pentru evoluția plastică a artistului. Din 1951 se va stabili pe continentul Nord American, unde va trăi la New York, până la data de 3 februarie 2002.

Bunurile culturale prezente în expoziția de la Suceava, au fost create de către sculptorul Constantin Antonovici, la Paris și la New York, și au fost donate Muzeului Național al Bucovinei, în anul 2021, de către legatarul testamentar al sculptorului, domnul Stephan Benedict din New York. Sculpturile și desenele au călătorit spre Suceava în luna decembrie a anului 2021.

Posibilitatea acestei donații a fost mediată de către domnul Cristinel Boghian, din New York, care s-a deplasat în cursul anului 2019 la Suceava și a pus bazele colaborării dintre Consiliul Județean Suceava, Muzeul Național al Bucovinei și donator.
